Hywel Davies is an independent expert in building safety regulation and building performance, with over 40 years’ experience of construction product research, standards, testing and regulation and many years of involvement in building regulations. He is Deputy Chair of the Building Advisory Committee of the BSR and serves as part-time Head of Technical Insight at CABE. He was awarded an OBE for services to building safety and standards in the 2026 New Year Honours List.
